Men¡¯s Swim Team Announces 2001-2002 Award Winners
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. ¨C The Penn State men¡¯s swim team held its annual postseason awards banquet on Sunday evening. The highlight of the night was the annual presentation of team awards. Sprint standout Bob Molettiere (Harleysville, Pa.) won four awards, the most of any Nittany Lion. Molettiere won the Lou MacNeil Award , which is presented to the swimmer whose outstanding performances contributed the most to the team¡¯s success. Molettiere won the award last year. Molettiere also won the Jerome Weinstein Coaches¡¯ Award, presented to the team member who is not only the hardest worker, but is sure to give 100% to his teammates emotionally and physically. The senior also won the Captains Award for serving as the Nittany Lions team captain. The Galbraith Diving Award, given to the outstanding diver, was awarded to Steve Bohner (Lansdale, Pa.). Bohner was the Nittany Lion¡¯s sole All-American, earning the honors for his eighth place finish at the NCAA Championships. Other winners on the men¡¯s side were Brent Creager (Glendale, Ariz.) who won the Nittany Lion Award which is given to the person whose perseverance has led to the greatest overall improvement during a season or seasons. Bob Tucker (Barnesville, Ohio) won the Bob Krimmel Highest GPA Award. The following swimmers were awarded the Senior Award: Steve Bohner, Craig Brennan, Mike Laskowski, Bob Molettiere, John Scanlan, Martin Schierhorn and Josh Weaver. -Lions-
