Botes to Represent Penn State Men's Swimming & Diving Team at NCAA Championships

STATE COLLEGE, Pa., March 26, 2003 - Senior Eugene Botes (Thorton, Pa.) will represent the Penn State men's swimming and diving team at the NCAA Championships at the University of Texas in Austin, Texas, March 27-29.

Botes will be competing in the 100 Butterfly and the 100 Freestyle. He took home the title at the Big Ten Championships in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Freestyle with times of :47.08 and: 43.93, respectively.

The championships begin on Thursday and conclude on Saturday. The daily schedule consists of: swimming preliminaries at 11:00 a.m. CT, diving preliminaries at 1:00 p.m. CT, and swimming and diving finals at 7:00 p.m. CT.

Coach Bill Dorenkott's squad finished sixth in last month's Big Ten Championships and will be looking to improve upon last year's 15th place finish at the NCAA meet.
