MenĄŻs Swimming and Diving Competes on Day One of NCAA Championships
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.; March 15, 2007 ¨C Two Penn State relay teams and two Nittany Lion individuals competed on the first day of the NCAA MenĄŻs Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday. Both relay teams finished just outside of the top 16 in the morning prelims that would have qualified them for the finals and both swam the second-fastest times of the year in the respective relays. The 200 free relay team of Dan Kaiserian, Sean Swanepoel, Vincent Reydams and Sean Biedermann finished 18th in a time of 1:20.55, just :01.23 seconds out of 16 place. The 400 medley relay team of Pat Schirk, Kyle Miranda, Tim Williams and Dan Kaiserian placed 20th in 3:16.06. Individually, Sean Biedermann finished 35th in the 200 IM with a time of 1:48.52, his third-fastest time of the year. On the one-meter springboard, Mike Alderman placed 29th with a score of 275.70. The Nittany Lions did not have any competitors in either of the other two events that were contested on Thursday, the 500 free and the 50 free. TomorrowĄŻs events that the Nittany Lions will have entries in include the 200 free, 100 breast and 100 back. Schirk is seeded fifth in the 100 back. Alderman will also compete in the three-meter springboard diving.
