Penn State Diving Team Qualifies a Total of Four Individuals for NCAA Championships
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (March 13, 2004) Sophomore Lisa Silvestri (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) finished a clean sweep on the one- and three-meter diving boards Saturday by winning the three-meter event and she will be joined by three other Penn State divers when the NCAA Championships begin over the next two weeks. Silvestri won the three-meter event on Saturday with a score of 502.75 at the NCAA Zone ¡°A¡± Diving Championships at Lejeune Hall in Annapolis, Md. Junior Alison Riccobono (Ypsilanti, Mich.) took second with 450.90 and senior Maggie O¡¯Brien (Minnetonka, Minn.) finished third with 426.40 as both will join Silvestri at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships Mar. 18-20 in College Station, Texas. Junior Corey Pagnotta (Westport, Conn.) had a fine zone championship as well as she finished sixth on the three-meter board with 409.50. Junior Marc Gastaldo (Winslow, Maine) qualified for the NCAA Champions on Friday by winning the three-meter event. He finished sixth on the one-meter board with 548.85. Sophomore Adam Pierce (Conroe, Texas) followed Gastaldo by taking seventh with 541.35 and sophomore Mike Alderman (Arlington, Va.) took 11th with 526.20. The men¡¯s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships will be held Mar. 25-27 in Long Island, N.Y.
