Penn State Divers Set for NCAA Zone Championships
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Mar. 10, 2005) ¨C Four Penn State divers will compete for a chance to make the NCAA Championships when they begin competition at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships Friday in Annapolis, Md. Seniors Corey Pagnotta (Westport, Conn.) and Alison Riccobono (Ypsilanti, Mich.) will compete for the women, and senior Marc Gastaldo (Winslow, Maine) and junior Adam Pierce (Conroe, Texas) will compete for the men. The menĄŻs 1-meter competition as well as the womenĄŻs 3-meter competition will begin at 1 p.m. Friday. The menĄŻs 3-meter and the womenĄŻs 1-meter events will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, and the platform competition will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday. Riccobono qualified for the NCAAs last year, and finished 19th on the 3-meter board with 465.50 at the NCAA Championships. She also took 35th on the 1-meter board with 226.40. Gastaldo also qualified last season, and finished 24th on the 1-meter board with 267.95. He finished 23rd on the 3-meter board with 483.60. Four men and four women will qualify for the upcoming NCAA Championships. The womenĄŻs championships will run Mar. 17-19 in West Lafayette, Ind. The menĄŻs NCAA Championships will be Mar. 24-26 in Minneapolis, Minn.
