No. 17 Nittany Lions Take Five of Eight Events in Non-Scoring Meet Versus No. 9 Michigan

State College, Pa; January 19, 2001-- The men's swimming teams of Penn State and the University of Michigan staged a non-scoring meet Friday evening on the Wolverines' campus in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Nittany Lions posted the fastest time in five of the eight events.

The Nittany Lions won all three relay events which included the 200 medley and freestyle relays as well as the 800 freestyle relay. Senior Joe Peresan (Lancaster, N.Y.) posted the fasted time in the 400 Individual Medley with a time of 3:56.44. Eugene Botes (Glen Mills, Pa.) touched the wall first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 49.01.

Saturday the Nittany Lions and Wolverines will participate with the University of Purdue in a triangular dual meet between Big Ten foes which is set to begin at noon. The Boilermakers come into the meet ranked 19th by the College Swim Coaches Association of America.
