Summer 2007: Rob swam at three meets during the summer season. He was a part of the eighth place 400 medley and the ninth place 400 freestyle relay teams and also swam in the 50 and 100 free and the 100 butterfly at the Charlotte Ultraswim. He then was on the first place 400 medley relay team and placed fourth in the 100 fly at the Mid-Atlantic Senior Championships. He wrapped up the summer by swimming in the 50 freestyle and being a part of the 16th place 400 free relay team at U.S. Nationals. 2006-07: Rob showed tremendous improvement at the end of his junior year, as he set career bests in his three main events, the 50 and 100 freestyle and the 100 butterfly, at Big Ten Championships. His best finish in those three events was just one spot shy of scoring, 17th in the 50 free. He had three first place finishes on the year, two in relays and one in the 50 free and he also had a third place finish. On the year, he had the fourth fastest times of the year on the team in both the 50 free and 100 fly. 2005-06: The majority of Rob's time in the pool as a sophomore came as a member of relay teams, as he swam extensively on the 200 and 400 free relay teams as well as on several medley relay teams. He was a part of one first place relay team and two second place squads. Individually, he swam his second-best career times in the 50 and 100 free, as well as the 100 butterfly at the Big Ten Championships.
2004-05: Had three fifth place finishes against St. Bonaventure in the 50 freestyle (22.66), the 100 freestyle (49.75), and the 200 IM (2:05.30). He took fifth place against Rutgers in the 200 butterfly (2:01.29) and helped the 400 freestyle relay to a second place finish (3:10.98). Against Ohio State, he helped the 200 freestyle relay to a second place finish (1:26.07). High School: Rob finished in fourth place with a time of 21.81 in the 50 freestyle in 2003, and in 2004, he placed fourth again in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.77 and third in the 100 freestyle with a time of 47.72 at the Pennsylvania High School State Championships. He was also a High School Academic All-American. Personal: Rob was born on October 20, 1985. His parents are Jeff and Fay Felty. He has a younger brother, Ed, who is a sophomore on the team. Rob is majoring in mechanical engineering. Why I chose Penn State: "I chose Penn State because of its strong engineering program."
