Gomez claims two victories during his final meet at McCoy Natatorium
LION CAREER 2011-12: Qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in both the 200 breast and the 400 IM in the summer of 2012...Competed in three events in the 2012 Big Ten Championships, including a 12th-place finish in the B Finals in the 200 breast with a time of 1:59.74, fourth all-time in Penn State history...Set a personal best record in the 200 breast, as well as in the 400 IM (3:51.57) for a 14th place finish in the B Final at the Big Tens...Led a Nittany Lion sweep of the 400 IM against West Virginia with a time of 4:04.44 and again in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:06.19...Won the 200 breast against Georgia Tech with a time of 2:05.11...Qualified for the 200 breast A final at the Ohio State Invitational with a time of 2:01.60 before finishing eighth with 2:03.05...Recorded a season high of 58.00 seconds in the 100 breast at OSU, as well as a personal best in the 200 IM with a time of 1:53.27 (12/2/11)...Finished the 200 breaststroke in 2:02.88 to capture a second place finish against Navy.... With a time of 2:03.49, placed third against OSU and Michigan (1/27/12)...Rounded out the regular season with a first place finish in the 200 breast with a time of 2:05.14 against Lehigh (2/4/12).
2010-11: Competed in eight events as a freshman, seeing the most action in the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke and the 400 individual medley... Swam 2:08.01 for a third place finish at West Virginia (10/16/10)... Notched a career-best time of 58.82 at the Georgia Invitational (12/4/10), finishing in 20th place...Also posted a career-best in the 200 breaststroke at the Georgia Invitational, swimming a time of 2:04.24...Earned a third place finish in the 400 IM at West Virginia...Had season-best time of 3:59.52 in the 400 IM at the Georgia Invitational.
