LION CAREER
2009-10:Set a new personal record in the 400 IM with a swim of 3:57.74 at the Big Ten Championship C Final, finishing 22nd overall...Qualified 28th in the prelims of the 400 IM at Big Tens with a time of 3:59.02...Competed primarily in the 200 breaststroke, with a season best time of 2:08.31 at Big Tens, and the 400 IM...Swam the 500 freestyle five times with a season-best mark of 4:33.23 coming at Big Tens...Won the 400 IM at the St. Bonaventure dual meet...Member of third-place 400 medley relay (3:28.52) vs. West Virginia.

2008-09: Set personal bests in the 200 backstroke (1:52.95) and 400 IM (3:59.19) at the Big Ten Championships...Posted 22nd-place finish in 400 IM and 35th in the 200 back at the Big Ten Championships...Also competed in the 500 free at Big Tens...Completed the 400 IM in 4:02.70 at Texas A&M en route to second-place showing...Notched third-place effort in 400 IM vs. Maryland/Pittsburgh/Villanova...Swam 100 and 200 free events one time, respectively...Member of third-place 200 free relay at SMU (1:26.06) and 400 free relay at Texas A&M (3:13.20).

2007-08: Swam in five meets as a freshman...Had steady combination of sprinting and distance work in various events...Saw time with relay teams getting his best finish in the 800 free relay at the Hoosierland Open Invite coming in third...Set personal records in 200 free (1:44.17) and 500 free (4:28.40) at Princeton.

HIGH SCHOOL
Swam for Scarlet Aquatic Club...Senior National qualifier in the 1,000 free and 800 free relay...Team record holder in 800 free relay...Junior National qualifier in the 200 IM and 400 IM as well as the 200, 500, 1,000, and 1,650 freestyle events...High school team won the county conference championship during his one season on the squad.

James Capparell was born on April 5, 1989 in Somerville, N.J. to Jim and Robin Capparell...Has two older sisters, Melissa (25), and Meghan (22), who is on the swimming team at Princeton...Marketing major.
