LION CAREER
2010-11: Competed in the Big Ten Championships in six events... Had best 50 freestyle (20.57) and 100 freestyle (44.93) times at Big Ten Championships, finishing in 30th place... Notched best 200 freestyle finish of season at Big Ten Championships with a time of 1:40.00, earning 45th place... Earned two victories in relay events, helping the team win the 200 freestyle relay vs. Buffalo and the 400 medley relay vs. Buffalo on 2/4/11... Posted his best individual finish with a third place at West Virginia on 10/16/10... Notched two fourth place finishes in the 50 freestyle, once at Buffalo on 2/4/11 with a time of 21.48 and once vs. North Carolina on 1/4/11 with a time of 21.89.

Swam to seven All-America distinctions as a four-year varsity letterwinner at Unionville...Squad won the League Championship freshman year under the direction of Jeremy Dickson and Erin Carey...Won the PIAA State Championship and set the record in the 100 free junior year...Served as captain for two years...Swam for Golden Ram Aquatics coached by Scott Elliott...Swam fastest 50, 100 and 200 freestyle times in team history...Placed in the top 10 in three events (50, 100 and 200 freestyle) at the SCY Junior National Championships.

Shane Thomas Austin was born April 5, 1992 in Bryn Mawr, Pa. to John and Mary Austin...The youngest of four children with sister Jennifer and two brother Mike, a 1999 PSU graduate, and John, a senior co-captain of the 2010-11 PSU swimming squad...Majoring in biology.
