STATE COLLEGE, Pa., Oct. 4, 2001 -- The Penn State men's soccer team returns home to Jeffrey Field this weekend after playing three games on the road. Friday night, Oct. 5 at 8:00 p.m., the No. 19 Lions play host to Northwestern, and Sunday afternoon, Oct. 7, at 1:00 p.m. they face the Badgers of Wisconsin.

Both games will be broadcast on Penn State's official athletic website, www.GoPSUsports.com, with the Friday night game also available on 1450 AM WMAJ radio with Pat Boland as commentator. The radio broadcast will begin at the conclusion of the State College High School football game, approximately 8:15p.m. Although there may be a slight delay, the men's soccer game will be heard in its entirety.

During halftime of the Northwestern game, the 1951 men's soccer team that traveled to Iran to play on a goodwill mission will be honored. The team, led by legendary Penn State head coach Bill Jeffrey, was the first American athletic team to play on Iranian soil. Eleven members from the original seventeen that made the trip will be in attendance.

Also that weekend, the Snickers Fan Experience comes to Happy Valley. Kids 14 and under will have a chance to test the speed of their kick and enjoy other promotions from Mars & Mars. Candy will be thrown out for all Penn State goals throughout the weekend.

Friday night is also Centre Soccer night, sponsored by Subway and Beaver 103FM. A spirit contest will be held before play in the second half begins, and will be judged by the Nittany Lion. Major League Soccer stickers, posters and four MLS soccer balls will be given away during the game. Nikesoccer.com lanyards will also be available for fans.

Sunday afternoon, Baby's Burgers and Shakes will be giving away milkshakes to the "lucky section" during halftime. The "lucky section" will be determined by the Centre Soccer team that will be scrimmaging during halftime.
