UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced that the Penn State-Bucknell match on Oct. 1 (7 p.m.) will be shown live on NSCAATV.com from Lewisburg, Pa. The match will stream without charge.
Tuesday's announcement is Penn State's first of several games that will receive air time. Penn State and Bucknell will meet for the 71st time on Wednesday, Oct. 1, renewing Penn State's most-played rivalry.
The Nittany Lions are 59-8-4 all-time against the Bison following a 2-1 win Oct. 17, 2012. PSU's last visit to Lewisburg was a 0-0 double-overtime draw Oct. 26, 2011.
The full-fledged television-style production will be entering its second season in 2014 with more than 15 games planned. Last year, NSCAATV.com broadcast more than 40 college games and 80 broadcasts of all levels of soccer. Currently, NSCAATV.com is the home of the National Women's Soccer League and USL Pro.
Penn State is one of five teams ranked at the end of 2013 to be featured in the preliminary NSCAATV.com schedule. The Nittany Lions garnered 16th in the NSCAA poll following its run to the NCAA Sweet 16.
Penn State's slate of game on Big Ten Network will be revealed later this summer with three matches slated for airing in front of a national audience. PSU's season opener is slated for Aug. 29 against Oakland (8 p.m.) at Jeffrey Field.
Penn State, The back-to-back Big Ten title winners, returns seven starters from 2013 including NSCAA All-Great Lakes First Team and Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year Andrew Wolverton (Atlanta, Ga.). Two-time All-Big Ten Second Team honoree Owen Griffith (Lewisburg, Pa.) as well as All-Big Ten Freshman Team selections Connor Maloney (Harrisburg, Pa.) and Mason Klerks (Corona, Calif.) are again in the fold at Penn State.
