Severs Named to College Soccer News All-Freshman Second Team

STATE COLLEGE, Pa., Jan. 24, 2002 -- Penn State men's soccer player Chad Severs (Ocean City, N.J.) has been named to the College Soccer News All-Freshman second team. The standout forward was second on the Nittany Lion squad in points (15) and goals (5) in his first season and was a vital member of the 14-5-1 team that advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

Severs, the 2001 Co-Big Ten Freshman of the Year, was one of 11 members on the second team chosen by College Soccer News. During the season, Severs was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week (Oct. 22) for his performance in the Michigan State game, where he scored the game-winning goal in the 111th minute. His play in the conference tournament also earned him Big Ten All-Tournament accolades.
