Men¡¯s Lacrosse Player Pat Heim Named Second Team Pre-Season All-American
Heim is a three-year starter at midfield for Penn State. A two-time first team All-ECAC pick, Heim has 67 career points off 44 goals and 23 assists. He has played in 41 games for Penn State through three seasons with the Nittany Lions and was a 2006 USILA honorable mention All-American. A trio of Nittany Lions were named to the Inside lacrosse honorable mention list. Senior co-captain Dan Saltsman (Concord, N.H.), senior attacker Brain Boyle (Derry, N.H.) and sophomore goalie Drew Adams (Springfield, Pa.) were all on the pre-season HM list. Saltsman is a three-year letterman for Penn State, emerging as an anchor on defense. Last season, he collected 28 ground balls and has 82 for his career. He was a first team All-ECAC pick in 2006 as well. Boyle is Penn State¡¯s leading returning scorer. The two-year letterman (he played one year at Notre Dame) had 37 points in 2006, scoring 12 goals and dishing off 25 assists. He has 67 career points. Boyle was a second team All-ECAC selection. Adams is the reigning ECAC Goalie of the Year and ECAC Rookie of the Year. The talented keeper posted an 8.25 goals against average last season and collected 164 saves. Adams was a USILA honorable mention All-American and a first team All-ECAC selection. He was also voted team Most Valuable Player as a freshman. Penn State is coming off an 8-5 season and opens up its 2007 season at home vs. Denver on Feb. 17 in a 7 p.m. contest. As a team, the Nittany Lions have already earned a No. 17 pre-season ranking.
