2018 Schedule

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. --Penn State men's lacrosse announces their 2018 schedule which is highlighted by hosting the defending NCAA National Champions, and it features eight home games for the Nittany Lions.

Penn State finished 2017 as the No. 8 team in the nation with a 12-3 overall record and a 3-2 league record.

The 2018 season will prepare for the regular season with two exhibition games as the Nittany Lions host Navy on January 20, and hit the road to take on Army, who finished 2017 as the No. 14 team in United State Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Coaches Poll, on Jan. 27.

Penn State looks to host Villanova, No. 19 following 2017, in both their season opener and their home opener on Saturday, Feb. 3. The two teams battled in 2017, with the Nittany Lions coming out on top, 17-12. Penn State holds a 17-6 record over the Wildcats.

The Nittany Lions will continue their home stand as they host each of their games in February.

On Saturday, Feb. 10, Penn State will host Hobart in a rematch from 2017. Penn State took the 2017 showdown, 21-15. The series record between these two teams is 25-34-1, in favor of Hobart.

The Nittany Lions follow with a home game against Stony Brook on Feb. 17. This will be the first time these teams have met in 12 years, with the last meeting coming on March 18, 2006. Penn State holds a 6-2 all-time lead on the Seawolves.

The month of February will close out with a home game against Robert Morris on Saturday, Feb. 24. These two teams met in 2017, with the Nittany Lions taking the game, 15-11.



March will feature four consecutive road games for the Nittany Lions.

On Saturday, March 3, Penn State will take on historical foe Penn. These two teams have battled since their first meeting in 1913, and the Nittany Lions have a 24-14-1 record against Penn, including a dramatic, 14-13 win, in 2017.

In the quickest turnaround of the season, the Nittany Lions will take on Furman on Tuesday, March 6, in a neutral site game in Washington, D.C. Last season, Penn State topped Furman, 12-10.

The road trip will continue with a neutral site game against Cornell on Saturday, March 10, in Sparks, Md. Last season, Penn State took the game, 20-10, making the record, 21-20, in the Nittany Lions' favor.

The final game of the road trip will take place on Saturday, March 17, as the Nittany Lions head to Fairfield. In another rematch from 2017, Penn State will look to improve upon their 7-3 record against Fairfield.

The Nittany Lions will return home on Saturday, March 24, to close out non-conference play with Cleveland State.

In Big Ten play, Penn State will host three of their five league games, while also playing four-straight games against teams that finished in the top-15 in the nation in 2017.

The Nittany Lions will open Big Ten play on the road at Ohio State, the National Runners-up, on Saturday, March 31. Last season, the Nittany Lions took the match-up, 9-4, in University Park, Pa.

On Saturday, April 7, Penn State will host the defending National Champions, Maryland. The two squads matched up twice last season, once in the regular season and once in the Big Ten Tournament, with Maryland taking both.

The Nittany Lions will continue their homestand with Johns Hopkins on Saturday, April 14. Johns Hopkins finished the 2017 season as the ninth-ranked team in the USILA poll.

In the final road game of the regular season, the Nittany Lions will head to Rutgers for a Saturday, April 21 game. Last season, Penn State took the meeting, 13-7, but Rutgers holds a 43-22 record over the Nittany Lions.

The final regular season game will be at home as Penn State takes on Michigan on Saturday, April 28. Last season, Penn State bested Michigan in Ann Arbor, 17-13.

The 2018 Big Ten Championships will be in Ann Arbor on May 3-5.

The Penn State men's lacrosse program will announce all times as the season draws near as some dates and times may change due to TV schedules.
