Men's Lacrosse Prepares For Next Spring With The 25th Annual Fall Tournament
University Park, PA -- October 15, 2000 -- The Penn State men's lacrosse team held their 25th annual fall tournament on the new Multi-Sport Facility Outdoor field today. Four teams traveled to match up against the Nittany Lions in this preseason tradition. The games began at noon and continued with a game each hour. Penn State had a successful day winning three out of their four games. Penn State defeated Lafayette 5 to 3 in the first game. Junior attackman Will Driscoll (Fairport, NY) led the Lions in scoring with two goals. Captain Eric Wood (Deferiet, NY) scored a goal and earned two assists. The laxers faced Mount Saint Mary's in game two, defeating them 13 to 5. Sophomore attackman Charlie Perry (Port Washington, NY) scored three goals and two assists. Freshmen Dan Geiger (New Canaan, Ct.), B.J. Donovan (Annapolis, Md.), and Brian Mabry (Orchard Park, NY) scored two goals each making an impressive showing in their first collegiate game. After an hour break, the Nittany Lions were defeated for the only time by Drexel with a score of 4 to 6. The game remained close throughout, and Driscoll led the Lions in scoring, once again, with two goals. The final game matched the Lions with their in-state rival the Bucknell Bison. The Lions bounced back from their loss beating Bucknell 10 to 4. The Lions' 2001 season begins in February with another annual Penn State tradition; the Alumni Game. That game is on February 3 at 3 p.m.
