Men's Lacrosse Announces 2005 Team Captains

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., September 21, 2004 - The Penn State men's lacrosse team has announced its 2005 captains. Seniors Will Jones (Annapolis, Md.), Mike Jacober (Providence, R.I.) and Marc Young (Devon, Pa.) will lead the Nittany Lions into next season. The three midfielders combined for 19 goals and 12 assists last year.

Jones started in six of the 13 matches last season while finishing fourth on the team in goals (12), assists (6) and points (18). His best performance came against Notre Dame when he posted three goals and one assist. Jones also held a seven game scoring streak, which featured two-point games against Denver and Massachusetts. He was also named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference Preseason All-League team at the beginning of the year.

Jacober competed in 12 games last year scoring six goals and five assists while contributing with 30 shots and nine ground balls. He made his presence felt with a two-goal game against Georgetown and a three-point game against Denver the following week.

Young played in all 13 matches, starting in six. He scored one goal against Massachusetts and one assist versus Providence while collecting 14 ground balls.

The Nittany Lions will be in action on Oct. 17 when they host the 29th Annual Fall Tournament at the Multisport Field. Penn State will also participate in the Leukemia Tournament, which will be held in Baltimore, Md., on Oct. 2.
