UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., June 4, 2004 - Men's lacrosse seniors Brian Mabry (Orchard Park, N.Y.) and Matt O'Malley (Hunt Valley, Md.) will compete in the 64th Annual North-South Senior All-Star game. The event will be held on Saturday, June 12 at Nazereth College in Rochester, N.Y.

After winning the Nick Thiel Award in 2002 for most improved player on the team, Mabry led the squad as a senior captain this season. He earned the George Pittinger Award for most valuable senior on the team as he contributed one goal in the 16-7 victory over Mt. Saint Mary's. Mabry was also an Oswald Award recipient, which is handed to graduating seniors who provide outstanding leadership throughout the university. For the third consecutive year, he was awarded the "Friends of Penn State Lacrosse" GPA Award and also has earned spots on the Eastern College Athletic Conference All-Academic team over the past two seasons.

Senior captain Matt O'Malley was named the Andrew Lockhart Award winner, which is given to the top defensive player on the team. He also earned the Nick Thiel Award for most improved player on the team last year. O'Malley led all defensemen in points (3) and collected 42 ground balls, which is third best on the team. He was the leader on the Nittany Lion close defense and a strong All-American candidate. This is the fourth consecutive year that a Nittany Lion will participate in the All-Star game. Sixty-three Lions have represented Penn State in the game over a 41-year span. In 1999, attackman John Chescavage was named Most Valuable Player and last season Luke Ogelsby scored a goal to help the South squad to victory. Penn State will host the 29th Annual Fall Lacrosse Tournament on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004 at the Multisport Field. The Lions will also participate in the Leukemia Tournament in Baltimore on Oct. 2.
