UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Senior standouts Shane Sturgis (Downingtown, Pa.) and Tom LaCrosse (Canandaigua, N.Y.) will participate in Monday's USILA Division I/II North-South Game at M&T Bank Stadium for the South Team. The annual all-star game is set for 10 a.m. prior to the NCAA Division I Championship Game.
The inclusion of two Nittany Lions marks the second straight season a Penn State pair has participated in the all-star game, which is entering its 73rd year. Sturgis and LaCrosse will be the 77th and 78th Nittany Lions to take part in the North-South game.
Sturgis, who earned All-CAA First Team honors for his career season, scored 33 goals, 17 assists and 50 points to pace the Nittany Lion offense. Sturgis led the CAA in points per game (3.85) and game-winning goals (3), while finishing his career at Penn state fourth in points with 158.
LaCrosse served as one of three captains during the 2014 Nittany Lion season and wrapped up his season year with an eight-goal campaign. For his career, the lefty midfielder scored 49 goals, tallied 11 assists and 60 points to go along with 49 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers. In 2013, LaCrosse's career season of 23 goals and 28 points earned him honorable mention All-America.
For the South Team, Sturgis and LaCrosse will wear their traditional numbers of 3 and 25, respectively. The USILA North-South Game has been played annually since 1940, save for the 1944 and 1945 seasons due to World War II.
The Division I/II South Team will be coached by Brad Jorgensen, the head coach of Saint Leo University. Tickets for the contest are available on NCAA.com/Lacrosse or by calling 410-261-7283.
