Men's Lacrosse Meets Third-Seeded Maryland This Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - May 9, 2005 - The Penn State men's lacrosse team will travel to College Park, Md., this Saturday, May 14, to face No. 3 seed Maryland in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Byrd Stadium. Individual adult tickets are $10 while junior and senior tickets are priced at $5 apiece. Tickets can be purchased online on the University of Maryland's website at umterps.collegesports.com.

The Nittany Lions earned their second tournament birth in three years ending the regular season on a seven-game winning streak. Penn State upset No. 7 Georgetown on Sunday, May 8, with a 13-12 overtime victory to grab a share of the ECAC title with Massachusetts. Maryland won the 2005 ACC Championship after defeating Duke 9-5 on May 1. The Terrapins closed their regular season schedule with a 21-6 victory over Penn to finish with a 9-5 record.

Both the Penn State men's and women's lacrosse teams earned spots in the NCAA Tournament, which marks the first time that both teams have qualified in the same year. Penn State is one of eight schools with two teams in the NCAA Lacrosse Championships. The other teams include: Johns Hopkins, Maryland, Duke, Virginia, Syracuse, Georgetown and Towson.
