Nate Whitaker Earns ECAC Player of the Week Honors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., May 4, 2004 -Penn State men's lacrosse sophomore Nate Whitaker (Great Falls, Va.) earned Eastern College Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors, which was recently announced. This is the first occasion all season that Whitaker was named conference player of the week.

Last Saturday, Whitaker finished with six points against No. 17 Villanova after tallying two goals and four assists. He leads the team in points (28), assists (12) and is second on the team in goals (16). Whitaker continues an impressive 26-game scoring streak having scored at least one point in every game he has played in as a Nittany Lion. He also earned spots on the ECAC Weekly Honor Roll three other times this season with four-point games against Mt. Saint Mary's and Georgetown and a two-point game against Fairfield.

Penn State (5-7, 0-3 ECAC) will host Virginia on Saturday, May 8 at 12:00 p.m. This will be the season finale for the Lions and Senior Day festivities will begin shortly before the game starts.
