Nittany Lion Men's Lacrosse Team Ranked No. 15 In USILA Coaches Poll
State College, Pa. - May 2, 2006 - The Penn State Nittany Lion men's lacrosse team, under the guidance of head coach Glenn Thiel, is ranked No. 15 in the latest USILA Coaches Poll. Penn State, which maintained its No. 15 ranking form last week with a win at Villanova, is one of four ECAC Lacrosse League schools in the rankings. Virginia maintained its hold on the No. 1 spot, followed by Hofstra (2), Cornell (3), Maryland (4) and ECAC foe Georgetown (5). Other ECAC Lacrosse League teams in the rankings are Massachusetts (11) and Penn State (15) and Loyola (20), meaning half of the league's eight teams are ranked in the poll. Penn State is also ranked No. 16 in the latest Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. Georgetown (5), UMass (13), Penn State (16) and Loyola (18) are all ranked in the top 20, meaning half of the league is listed in the media poll as well. Penn State is 8-4 overall and 5-1 in the ECAC. The Nittany Lions host No. 5 Georgetown, 10-2 overall and also 5-1 in the loop, on Saturday in the game that will decide the 2006 ECAC Lacrosse League championship.
