Nate Whitaker Earns ECAC Player of the Week Honors
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., April 26, 2005 - Penn State men's lacrosse junior attackman Nate Whitaker (Great Falls, Va.) earned Eastern College Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors for the first time this season. Whitaker shares the distinction with junior attackman Sean Morris of Massachusetts Last Tuesday, Whitaker tallied three goals and two assists in the 11-10 upset over No. 12 Bucknell. Four days later he posted two goals and two assists in an 8-7-conference victory over Rutgers. Whitaker extended his scoring streak 39 games having scored at least one point in every game he has played in as a Nittany Lion. Whitaker also leads the team in points (33) and goals (23) and has registered 10 assists on the year. Penn State (7-5, 4-1) currently holds a five-game winning streak and is second in the ECAC behind Massachusetts. The Nittany Lions will host non-conference foe Villanova on Friday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m. Penn State will then travel to Georgetown to battle the Hoyas in its final regular season game of the year.
