Nittany Lion Men's Lacrosse Team Moves To No. 13 in USILA Coaches Poll

State College, Pa. - April 18, 2006 - The Penn State Nittany Lion men's lacrosse team, under the guidance of head coach Glenn Thiel, has moved to No. 13 in the latest USILA Coaches Poll. Penn State, which moved from No. 14 to its current spot after winning it's fourth straight ECAC Lacrosse League game last Saturday, is one of four conference schools in the rankings.

Virginia maintained its hold on the No. 1 spot, followed by Hofstra (2), Maryland (3), Navy (4) and Cornell (5). Other ECAC Lacrosse League teams in the rankings are Georgetown (7) Massachusetts (8), Penn State (13) and Loyola (16), giving the loop 25 percent of the nation's top 16 teams. Rutgers is also receiving votes; meaning five of the league's eight teams are either ranked or receiving votes.

Penn State is also ranked No. 14 in the latest Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. Georgetown (5), UMass (8), Penn State (13) and Loyola (14) are all ranked in the top 20, meaning half of the league is listed in the media poll.

Penn State is now 6-3 overall, 4-1 in the ECAC and tied for the conference lead. The Nittany Lions host Bucknell on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. and then host Rutgers on Saturday at 12 p.m. in an ECAC tilt.
