State College, Pa. - April 11, 2006 - Penn State Nittany Lion men's lacrosse player Drew Adams (Springfield, Pa.) has been named ECAC Lacrosse League Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending April 9. It is Adams' second weekly honor of the campaign (he won Rookie of the Week earlier) and the fourth weekly honor for Penn State as a team.

Adams notched 17 saves against 21 shots on goal in Penn State's 9-4 ECAC road win at Hobart on Saturday. He posted 12 of his saves in the critical first half and, for the third straight game, allowed less than six goals. The win, Penn State's third straight in the league, moved the Nittany Lions to 3-1 in ECAC play. Over the last three games, Adams has allowed only 15 goals and has 40 saves.

The true freshman goalie was ECAC Rookie of the Week on March 13. Pat Heim (Wayne, Pa.) and Nate Whitaker (Great Falls, Va.) both earned Offensive Player of the Week laurels earlier in the year as well. Head coach Glenn Thiel's Nittany Lions, now 5-3 overall, will visit St. John's on Saturday for an ECAC road tilt. Action begins at 1 p.m.
