Nittany Lion Dan Saltsman Named ECAC Lacrosse League Defensive Player of the Week

STATE COLLEGE, Pa.; April 10, 2007 ¨C Penn State Nittany Lion lacrosse player Dan Saltsman (Concord, N.H.) has been named the ECAC Lacrosse League Defensive Co-Player of the Week for the week ending April 8, 2007. Saltsman shares the defensive honor with Rutgers¡¯ Chris O¡¯Dougherty.

Saltsman anchored a Penn State defense that held the nation¡¯s fifth-ranked offense to only seven goals, and just one in the second half, as Penn State downed Hobart 12-7 in a league battle. Saltsman shut down HC¡¯s offensive leader Dan Veltman, holding the talented Statesman attacker to only one goal on four shots. He also had two ground balls in the contest.

Saltsman is a senior co-captain for the Nittany Lions and will lead the team back into action this Saturday when Penn State hosts St. John¡¯s at 1 p.m. in another ECAC game. Penn State, under the guidance of veteran head coach Glenn Thiel, is 3-5 overall and 2-2 in the ECAC.
