Men's Lacrosse to Take on Yale in Boca Raton, Fl.
STATE COLLEGE, Pa., March 10, 2003 - The men's lacrosse team will travel to Boca Raton, Fl. to take on Yale in a non-conference match-up. This is the second all-time meeting between the two teams. The first came in 1997 where the Lions were victorious winning 11-6. Penn State is (1-2, 0-1) coming off a loss from ECAC rival Georgetown 9-11. Despite the loss, the Lions still move up one space in the Inside Lacrosse Top 20 to No. 14. Yale sits at No. 19 with a (1-0) record. The Lions dropped their season opener to Notre Dame in a close match 10-9. Penn State then rebounded from the loss to dominate Fairfield 18-6 one week later. Head coach Glenn Thiel will be looking for his 262nd victory to move him up to a fifth place tie on the Division I All-Time Coaches Career Wins list. Carl Runk of Towson currently holds the fifth spot on the list. Penn State left from Washington, D.C immediately after the Georgetown match to fly down to Florida. The Yale match will be played tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. at a local high school field. On March 15, the Lions will continue their road trip as they travel to Ithaca, N.Y. to take on Cornell at 12:00 p.m.
