STATE COLLEGE, Pa., February 27, 2002- Penn State freshman Will Jones (Annapolis, Md./DeMatha) was named ECAC Rookie of the Week after his performance against Notre Dame. This marks the first time a Nittany Lion has received the Rookie of the Week honor and only the second time a Lion was awarded

ECAC Player of the Week accolades. Will Driscoll earned ECAC Player of the Week after he scored five goals against Hobart last season.

In his first-collegiate appearance, Jones scored three goals, including the game-winning overtime goal in the 10-9 victory over the Irish in the Lions' season opener. The midfielder also added two assists on the day to help the Lions cause. The win gave the Lions a 43-45-1 record in season openers, snapping a two-year season opening losing streak.

Penn State travels to Fairfield, Conn., on Saturday, Mar. 2 to take on the Fairfield Stags at 1:00 p.m. The Nittany Lions open their home schedule when they host Air Force on Mar.4 at 3:00 p.m.
