Nittany Lion Men's Lacrosse Ranked No. 14 in Latest Inside Lacrosse Media Poll

State College, Pa. - February 21, 2006 - The Penn State Nittany Lion men's lacrosse team is No. 14 in the latest (2/20) version of the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. Penn State held the same position in last week's poll.

Duke is No. 1 in the rankings, followed by Johns Hopkins (2), Maryland (3), Virginia (4), Syracuse (5) and Navy (6). ECAC Lacrosse league preseason favorite Georgetown is No. 7, followed by Princeton (8), Cornell (9) and ECAC Lacrosse rival UMass (10). Towson is No. 11, with Notre Dame (12), North Carolina (13) and Penn State (14) following closely behind.

Penn State, under the guidance of veteran head coach Glenn Thiel, will open up the 2006 campaign this coming Sunday with a 1 p.m. gave at No. 12 Notre Dame. The Nittany Lions and Fighting Irish will both be playing in their season openers.
