STATE COLLEGE, Pa., February 7, 2002- In a vote by the ECAC lacrosse coaches, senior Will Driscoll (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) was named to the 2002 Preseason All-ECAC Team. The coaches also picked Penn State to finish fourth in the 2002 ECAC Preseason Coaches Poll.

Driscoll was first on the team in scoring and points tallying 38 goals with 47 points last season. He ranked fourth in the ECAC in scoring and ninth in the county in goals per game with 2.92. He was selected second team All-ECAC and also earned Player of the Week honors on April 10th after he led the team with five goals and two assists in the 12-11 win over No. 20 Hobart.

Head coach Glenn Thiel, who enters his 25th season at the Nittany Lion helm, returns three starters from last season's 7-6 team and 25 letterwinners. Georgetown was tabbed the preseason favorite, followed by Massachusetts and Navy. UMBC and Rutgers were picked to finish behind the Lions in fifth and sixth place, respectively.

Penn State opens its season on Saturday, Feb. 23 travelling to Notre Dame. The Lions open the home slate on Monday, Mar. 4 against Air Force at 3 p.m.
