Sophomore Colby Rhodes burst onto the Penn State scene last year with an outstanding 2008 season. Playing in all 14 games and scoring 10 points, Rhodes showcased the offensive skills that will help make him an even bigger factor in 2009.
2009: Rhodes played in 14 games last year, scoring five goals and dishing off five assists for 10 points. He also grabbed 10 ground balls and took 40 shots.
Rhodes scored 55 goals and dished off 35 assists for 90 points during his senior year at Severna Park (Md.) High School after transferring from the Bishop's School in California. He is the son of Bryce and Sue Rhodes and has one sister, Jacqueline. His mother played field hockey and lacrosse at William and Mary as well.
"Colby started most of '08, but is just recovering from shoulder injury. He did not participate in the fall, but expects to be ready for January preseason. Look for Colby in the midfield with his left shooting, and creating to be an integral part of the offense. He has played attack, but should settle in as one of our middies this spring." - Coach Thiel
