Sophomore Anthony Basciano became a key player for Penn State last season, seeing action in 11 games. The talented midfielder will look to become an even bigger factor in 2009. Basciano returns as one of Penn State's more experienced middies and he will be relied upon heavily this year.
LION CAREER:
2008:Basciano got his first collegiate goals last year, emerging as a solid member of Penn State's midfield. Basciano had three goals and one assist for four point. He collected five ground balls and took 17 shots.
2007:Basciano did not play in any games during his freshman campaign.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL:
Basciano was a three year starter at Sachem High School and was first team All-Division in each season. In 2006, he earned All-County laurels and was voted team captain. He also won Sachem's Coaches Award in 2006 and led his team in assists as a junior and a senior. An outstanding student, Basciano was on the Student Leadership Committee four straight years and was an Honor Roll student. He is the son of Anthony and Carol Basciano. Anthony is a major in RPTM at Penn State.
