Donohue and Tan Earn All-America Honors at NCAA Men's Gymnastics Event Finals

NORMAN, Okla., April 6, 2002 - Penn State men's gymnasts junior Kevin Donohue (Saddle River, N.J.) and sophomore Kevin Tan (Fremont, Calif.) ended an outstanding season on Saturday evening at the NCAA Championships event finals in Norman, Okla. Both earned All-America honors on two events to cap the 2002 campaign.

An All-American in the all-around coming into Saturday night's competition, Donohue placed fifth on the floor with an 8.875 and fourth on vault at 9.287 to earn All-America status on both events. He receives All-America honors for the first time in his career. Tan repeats as an All-American on rings. He posted a 9.525 on the apparatus to place second overall. He also received All-America honors on parallel bars after posting an 8.812 for a fifth-place showing.

"I am pleased for Kevin Donohue and Kevin Tan because of the sacrifices the've made throughout the season and because of the efforts they have put forth," said head coach Randy Jepson. "It's great to see them be honored for their individual efforts. Looking ahead, I know the team is hungry to on put a great showing next year and there is a lot of fuel for the fire from now until then." With the five All-America certificates received at the 2002 NCAA Championships, Penn State has 60 All-Americans since 1980. Friday's NCAA Championships will air on ESPN2 on Saturday, April 13 at 6 p.m. ET and will re-air on ESPN May 7 at 2:30 p.m. ET.
