Top Ranked Men's Gymnastics Handles Navy, 215.300-204.000
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - March 9, 2002 -- Kevin Donohue (Saddle River, N.J.) won four events and the all around to help lead Penn State to a 215.30-204.00 victory over the Navy gymnastics team, Saturday afternoon at Macdonough Hall. Donohue posted victories in the floor exercise (9.65), the vault (9.25), the parallel bars (9.40), and the horizontal bars (9.35), as well as in the all-around competition recording a career-high 55.100 to help lead the Lions to the victory. The top-ranked all-arounder in the nation this week, he has set a career high in the all-around four times this year. Penn State entered the meet as the nation's top-ranked team with an average team score of 215.775. Navy's Dan Finnegan (Sr., Richmond, Va.) posted victory in the pommel horse with a season-high 9.10, and totaled a season-best all-around score of 52.55. Penn State returns home for a double dual against Army on Saturday, Mar. 16 at 7 p.m. The Lions will be celebrating senior day for captain Adam Benas. The meet can also be seen on WPSX.
