No. 5 Penn State Men's Gymnastics Downs No. 4 Ohio State
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 21, 2004- The fifth-ranked Penn State men's gymnastics team defeated fourth-ranked Ohio State, 218.800 to 218.750, Saturday night in Columbus, Ohio. The Nittany Lions posted scores of 36.050 on the floor, 35.000 on the horse, 37.200 on the rings, a season-high 37.500 on the vault, 36.050 on the parallel bars and a season-high 37.000 on the high bar. Ohio State recorded scores of 36.900 on the floor, 35.750 on the horse, 36.100 on the rings, 37.000 on the vault, 36.100 on the parallel bars and 36.900 on the high bar. Sophomore Chad Buczek (Bridgewater, Mass.) placed second in the all-around with a career-high score of 54.250. Buczek also claimed the individual parallel bars title with a career-high 9.300. Senior Kevin Tan (Fremont, Calif.) claimed the individual rings title with a 9.750 and placed first on the high bar with a 9.550. Fellow senior Zach Roeder (Montrose, Pa.) notched a 9.550 to earn top honors on the horse and a season-high 9.450 to take home the vault crown.
