LAS VEGAS, Nev., February 7, 2004 - Penn State senior Kevin Tan (Fremont, Calif.) scored a 9.875 en route to his second-straight title at the Winter Cup, a qualifying event for the U.S. National Team. Tan won the event after tying Ohio State's Blaine Wilson and winning the tie-breaker because of a higher start value. Tan is the 2003 NCAA rings champion and has won the last two Big Ten titles.

The only other Lion in the event finals Saturday night was Zach Roeder (Montrose, Pa.), who had some trouble on the pommel horse and managed only a 7.350. Luis Vargas participated in the event finals on the pommel horse, as well, and scored an 8.450.

The Lions return home this week after spending three weekends away from Rec Hall. Penn State hosts Temple Saturday in a double dual meet with the women's team, who will host Minnesota. The meet begins at 7 p.m. in Rec Hall on Saturday, Feb. 14. The meet will air live on WPSX-TV, as well as being available on the Internet at www.gopsusports.com. Other stations may be added for the broadcast so please check back with www.gopsusports.com regularly for updates.
