Donohue Picked Big Ten Gymnast of the Week
State College, Pa., January 30, 2002 - Junior Kevin Donohue (Saddle River, N.J.) of the Penn State men's gymnastics team was named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week for the second-consecutive week, it was announced today. This is the third time in his career he has received the honor. Donohue receives the honor after setting a new career high in the all-around for the second-consecutive meet. He posted a 53.659 to win the all-around at Michigan, bettering his previous career-best of 52.950 set last week against Massachusetts. Donohue also went on to post wins on the floor (9.600) and high bar (9.450) against the Wolverines. His high bar score was also a career high, improving on another mark he set last week. Donohue has competed in the all-around at every meet for the Nittany Lions. His performance in Ann Arbor, Mich., led Penn State to its first win over Michigan in two years and handed the Wolverines their first home loss since 1999. This week, he is the top-ranked gymnast in the country on high bar, while also ranking third on floor and second in the all-around. Penn State returns home this weekend for a double-dual meet with the Nittany Lion women's team against Illinois on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 1 p.m. at Rec Hall. --LIONS--
