ROSEMONT, Ill. - After recording his seventh individual title of the season, sophomore Trevor Howard has been tabbed the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week, as announced by the conference this afternoon. The award marks his second conference weekly honor of the 2014 season and the 11th of his career.
Howard helped guide the Nittany Lions to a first-place finish at the Navy Open (420.900) this weekend. He led the way with a trio of top-five finishes, including a first-place finish on the high bar, winning by a season-high score of 14.600.
Competing on the parallel bars, he captured a second-place finish (14.400), before swinging to another second-place finish on the rings. Howard's 15.750 score on the rings is a personal season-high, as well as the top PSU score for the 2014 season.
