UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Following back-to-back team tournament titles to close out the fall schedule, Penn State men’s golf coach Greg Nye has announced the team’s schedule for spring of 2018. The Nittany Lions will play in eight events including the 2018 Big Ten Championships in Baltimore, Md.

For the second spring in a row, the Nittany Lions will open up the new year with a battle for the Athletic Director’s Trophy when they take on West Virginia on Sunday, February 4, at the Reunion Resort in Orlando, Fla. Last season, the two teams met for the first time in 45 years and Penn State claimed the trophy.

The following weekend, February 9-10, Penn State will compete in Big Ten Match Play in Palm Coast, Fla. The two-day event features teams from the Big Ten Conference competing in a single-elimination match play tournament with six golfers from each team competing each day. Penn State finished in second place in 2017.

On Saturday, February 24, Penn State meets Michigan State at the Challenge of Champions in Houston, Texas, in the fourth installment of the event. Nittany Lions hold a 2-1 series lead over the Spartans after last year’s 10-stroke victory.

The Nittany Lions return to traditional tournament-style play in the Colleton River Collegiate in Bluffton, S.C. The two-day tournament is Sunday-Monday, March 12-13 and is hosted by Michigan State.

Sunday-Tuesday, March 18-20, Penn State will travel to Eatonton, Ga., to compete in the Linger Longer Invitational at Reynolds Plantation Golf Club. Kennesaw State and Mercer University host the 13th playing of the tournament.

Penn State will host the Rutherford Intercollegiate Saturday-Sunday, April 14-15 at the Penn State Golf Courses in University Park, Pa. This will be the 41st edition of the Rutherford Intercollegiate and the Nittany Lions shared the tournament crown with Georgetown a year ago. Penn State has claimed 25 Rutherford Intercollegiate titles.

The regular season conclude in Columbus, Ohio, with the Kepler Intercollegiate, hosted by Ohio State, April 21-22.

The 2018 Big Ten Championship will be held Wednesday-Sunday, April 25-29 at the Baltimore Country Club in Baltimore, Md. Last season, the Nittany Lions finished fourth in the tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
