Men¡¯s Golf Adds Pair of Recruits
State College, Pa., Nov. 30, 2005- Head Coach Greg Nye and the Penn State men¡¯s golf team signed two players during the NCAA early signing period that began Nov. 9. Kevin Foley, of Somerville, NJ, will come to Penn State with an impressive high school resume. Not only is Foley ranked 22nd in the AJGA National Ranking, but the Immaculata High School star had a 2005 stroke average of 72.70 in national tournaments and finished in the top eight in 10 of 11 national tournaments this past year. A three-time Somerset County champion and 2005 first team all-state selection, Foley will be the only New Jersey player on the Penn State roster. In-state recruit Travis Howe, of Osceola, Pa., is a standout on the links as well as in the classroom. While being the number one ranked student in his class at Elkland Area High School, Howe was also a 2005 PIAA state champion, while posting a 69.70 match stroke average in his senior season. Howe already has some playing experience at his future school, as he was a runner up at the 2005 PGA Junior Series, which was played at Penn State. Penn State begins its spring season March 4 when they will compete in the Xavier Invitational.
