Penn State Men's Golf Wins Hoya Invitational

STATE COLLEGE, Pa., Oct. 30, 2001 -- The Penn State men's golf team won the Hoya Invitational for an important NCAA District victory. The event took place on Sunday and Monday, Oct. 28-29 at the Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg, Va. The Lions (582) won the event by five strokes over second place East Carolina and 25 strokes over third place Princeton.

Jim Fulller (Muskogee, Oklahoma) led the Nittany Lions, placing second in the tournament with a score of 141 (-3). Four of Penn State's golfers tied with a 148 (+4). East Carolina's Frank Adams III tallied a score of 138 (-6) to lead all the golfers in the tournament and help the Pirates to a second place finish.

The Lions will next be in action on March 1st when they compete at the LSU Spring Invitational to begin the spring season.
