Men¡¯s Golf Struggles in San Francisco
STATE COLLEGE, Pa.; October 12 - The Penn State men¡¯s golf team had a tough time at the Mackenzie Intercollegiate in San Francico, Ca., finishing in last place.
Penn State finished with a three-round score of a 27-over 881 (290-288-303), which was 37 strokes behind the victorious California Bears.
Individually, junior John Aubrey (Butler, Pa.) finished 32nd, with a 3-over 216, senior Marco Poccia (Saratoga Springs, NY) tied for 40th with a 5-over 218 and senior Greg Pieczynski (Kingston, Pa.) tied four others for 60th with a 10-over 223. Sophomore Harvin Groft (State College, Pa.) tied for 65th overall, shooting a 11-over 224 and senior Andrew Price (Mission Viejo, Ca.) was 16-over with a score of 229.
A notable absence from the lineup was sophomore Robert Rohanna (Waynesburg, Pa.), who hurt his back during the Memphis Intercollegiate.
On Saturday, the Lions are poised to rebound at the Big Five Invitational in Philadelphia.
