Men¡¯s Golf Team Finishes in 10th Place at Fifth Annual Alister MacKenzie Invitational
Fairfax, Ca., October 10, 2006 ¨C The Penn State men¡¯s golf team struggled in the final round of the fifth annual Alister MacKenzie Invitational in Fairfax, Ca. After two rounds Penn State (287-274-304, +13) sat in third place but shot 20-over as a team in the final round to finish in 10th place out of 15 teams. Host team California (268-275-283, -26) dominated the field, beating second place San Jose State by 16 shots. Junior Robert Rohanna (Waynesboro, Pa.) finished in a tie for 10th place at two-under after shooting rounds of 69-68-74. Jim Markovitz (Bridgeville, Pa.) fired rounds of 72-66-78 and finished in a tie for 25th place at plus-three. Freshman Kevin Foley (220, +7) tied for 48th and sophomore Chad Bricker (221, +9) tied for 52nd. Junior Harvin Groft (225, +12) rounded out the lineup finishing in a tie for 69th. The tournament was held at the Meadow Club, a 6,606-yard, par-71 course in Fairfax. Penn State returns to action this weekend, October 14-15, at the Big Five Invitational in Philadelphia, Pa., hosted by the University of Pennsylvania.
