Men¡¯s Golf Team Earns Top Ten Ranking

State College, Pa. ¨C September 26, 2002 ¨C The Penn State Nittany Lion golf team has earned a top ten national ranking in the latest Golf Week national poll (Sept. 25). Penn State, coming off two strong tournament finishes, is ranked No. 9 nationally, and tops in District 2.

Jim Fuller claimed the individual crown at the James Madison Invitational last weekend, pacing Penn State to a run-away team victory. The Nittany Lions also faired well in their season opening tournament in Wisconsin, placing third at the Badger Invitational on the first weekend in September.

Clemson checks in at NO. 1 in Golf Week¡¯s Sept. 25 poll, with Florida No. 2. Minnesota, at No. 6, and Michigan State, at No. 10, are the only other Big Ten team listed among the top ten in the early-season poll.
