Men¡¯s Golf Team in Second Place After Day 1 at the Mattaponi Springs Shootout

Ruther Glen, Va., September 25, 2006 ¨C The Penn State men¡¯s golf team sits in a tie for second place with Kent State after the first 36-holes of play at the second annual Mattaponi Springs Shootout, hosted by VCU. Sophomore Chad Bricker (Waynesboro, Pa.) led Penn State with rounds of 66 and 70 for a mark of eight-under on the day. Bricker is tied for third with Louisville¡¯s Adam Hadwin in the individual standings. Kent State¡¯s Marc Bourgeois and Dan Woltman of Wisconsin are tied for the lead at nine-under. Freshman Kevin Foley (Somerville, N.J.) is seventh overall at five-under after firing rounds of 71 and 68.

Penn State will look to overcome Louisville¡¯s one shot lead in the team standings during the last 18-holes of play tomorrow at the Mattaponi Springs Golf Club. Tomorrow¡¯s action on the 6,911-yard, par-72 course begins at 1:00 p.m.
