Penn State Men's Golf Team Wins James Madison Invitational

State College, Pa. -- September 22, 2002 -- Penn State's Jim Fuller shot three rounds in the sixties, helping the Penn State Nittany Lion men's golf team capture the James Madison Invitational this weekend. Fuller, who had 20 birdies in the tournament, followed up back-to-back scores of 66 with a 65 Sunday at Lakeview Golf Club to win the individual title at 16-under par, breaking the previous Penn State 54-hole record for an individual by five strokes. Penn State's team score of 820 (32-under) shattered the previous team mark by 18 strokes. "These are the best three rounds I've seen," Penn State head coach Greg Nye said. "We showed outstanding composure." James Madison was second in the team standings at 845 while Maryland was third at 850.
