Former Nittany Lion Golfer Leon Earns Canadian Tour Card

Ashburn, Ontario - Former Penn State standout Mark Leon (Brampton, Ontario) will compete on the Canadian Professional Golf Tour in 2008 after tying for seventh place at Canadian Tour Qualifying School. Leon, who is third on the Penn State career-scoring list, shot rounds of 73-74-71-72 (290), finishing six shots behind winner Justin Madison (284). Leon was one of only 15 players to earn full exemption for the 2008 season. A field of 131 players competed at "Q-School," which was held Sept. 17-20 at the Royal Ashburn Golf Club in Ashburn, Ontario for the 35th consecutive year. A three-time Mid-Atlantic Region Team selection, Leon finished his Nittany Lion career with a 73.79 scoring average. He earned All-Big Ten Team honors in 2005 and was a 2004 GCAA All-American.
