Penn State Men's Golf Announces Schedule
STATE COLLEGE, Pa.- The Penn State men's golf team will open the 2000 fall schedule in two weeks. In the season opener, the Nittany Lions travel to Wisconsin's Badger Invitational on Sept. 9-10. PSU then heads west to Fort Collins, Colo., for Colorado State's Ram Invitational on Sept. 25-26. On Sept. 30 through Oct. 1, PSU visits Champaign, Ill., for the Northern Intercollegiate, the precursor to next spring's Big Ten Championship. The Nittany Lions travel to Ohio for Xavier's Provident Invitational on Oct. 9-10, before visiting Virginia Commonwealth on Oct. 23-24 for the NCAA East Preview. Penn State closes out its fall slate at the Georgetown Invitational on Oct. 29-30. "The interesting part of our schedule is that 11 of the 12 meets are new venues or new tournaments for us," said PSU head coach Greg Nye. "It should be pretty exciting for this veteran team to see and play new courses." In the spring, Penn State tees off March 10-11 at the Big Red Classic in Ocala, Fla. The Nittany Lions continue play in the sunshine state on March 17-18 at the El Diablo Intercollegiate in Citrus Springs, Fla. PSU then heads to Texas March 24-25 for the Dr. Pepper Invitational in Pottsboro, Texas. On April 9-10, Penn State visits Liberty's Spring Classic in Lynchburg, Va., before travelling to Princeton for its Invitational on April 20-21. The Nittany Lions return home to host the 25th Annual Rutherford Intercollegiate April 28-29 at the PSU Blue Course.
