Former Penn Stater Mark Leon Finishes 43rd In First Nationwide Tour Event
Aug. 13, 2007 UNIVERSITY PARK, PA., AUG. 13, 2007 - Former Penn State golfer Mark Leon, a 2005 Penn State graduate, finished in a tie for 43rd playing in his first Nationwide Tour event at the Northeast Pennsylvania Classic, Aug. 9-12. Leon opened with rounds of 71 and 67 on the par 71, 6,990-yard Glenmaura National Golf Club course in Scranton, Pa. to make the cut. He followed with a 70 on Saturday before posting a closing round 74 to finish at 2-under par 282 for the tournament. Leon was on pace for a possible top 20 finish and an automatic exemption at the next tour stop before posting a triple-bogey seven on the 18th hole on Sunday. Justin Bolli won the tournament posting a score of 14-under par 270
