Golfer Marshalek Named Academic All-District II

May 25, 2000 ; BETHLEHEM, Pa.- Penn State golfer Greg Marshalek (Chester Springs, Pa.) was named to the 10-member GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-District II At-Large Team, CoSIDA committee representative Mark Fleming of Moravian College announced on Thursday.

A two-time Academic all-Big Ten selection, the junior fired a season-low 71 twice at the Rutherford Intercollegiate. He was Penn State's top golfer at last weekend's NCAA East Regional, tying for No. 27 overall with a 233. In just his second collegiate meet, Marshalek fired a school record round of 65 during the Northern Intercollegiate as a redshirt freshman last season. He has a 3.99 grade-point average in computer science.

The District II academic honor is Marshalek's second. He earned second-team recognition last season.
